Meet Our Veterinary Team
Meet the veterinarians and team at Northbrook Animal Hospital, where we’re committed to providing exceptional veterinary care for pets in Brooklyn Park, MN.
Our Veterinarians
Dr. Mey Nevo, Medical Director
Dr. Mey Nevo graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2007. Since then, her veterinary adventures have taken her to Illinois, Tennessee, New Jersey, and Minnesota, all while tagging along with her husband through his Small Animal Internal Medicine internship and residency. After all that traveling, they decided to plant roots in Minnesota to be closer to family.
At home, Dr. Nevo shares her life with her fantastic husband, Dr. Steven Shadwick, and their lively trio of kids: Sophie, Lucy, and Robert. These three bring a whirlwind of new and exciting challenges every day. And let’s not forget Bruce and Ruby, their young, spirited border terriers who are always up to something and keeping the Nevo-Shadwick household buzzing with energy!
Dr. Nevo has a knack for adding a personal touch to her patient care. Since 2008, she’s been mastering veterinary ultrasonography, bringing top-notch diagnostics to her clients at a budget-friendly price. Besides her love for advanced imaging, she’s also deeply into soft-tissue surgery and internal medicine. With her busy schedule and lively family, life is never dull at the Nevo-Shadwick household!
Dr. Jennifer Blum, Medical Director
Dr. Jennifer Blum graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2006. Her love for animals started way back on a dairy farm in Northwest Wisconsin, where she was always knee-deep in 4-H projects and local shindigs. That early farm life sparked her passion for veterinary medicine, and she has a keen interest in dentistry, internal medicine, and dermatology.
At home, Dr. Blum shares her space with her husband, their twin girls, and their energetic senior Labrador retriever, Eddy. But let’s be real — it’s Tigey, their cheeky tabby cat, who truly runs the show. Tigey has a knack for getting into hilarious scrapes, keeping the whole household entertained.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Blum and her family embrace the great outdoors with camping trips and hikes. They also hit the slopes for some thrilling downhill skiing. And when they’re indoors, you’ll find her baking up a storm with her daughters, whipping up sweet treats and even sweeter memories.
Our Veterinary Technicians
Tracy
Meet Tracy, one of our Certified Veterinary Technicians who brings a wealth of experience to our team. When she was young, Tracy developed a deep love for nature and animals. This passion led her to pursue a degree in veterinary technology from Argosy University. Tracy had been working in this industry for 12 years before joining the Northbrook Animal Hospital family in 2017.
Tracy’s favorite parts of her job are performing dental cleanings and sharing her knowledge with new puppy and kitten owners. Outside of work, she’s a fan of all things related to her favorite sports team, the Vikings. When the game isn’t on, you can find her outdoors with her family.
At home, Tracy lives with her fiancé, Matt, and their two daughters, Anna and Abby. Their furry friends include Darla, a Maltese-Yorkie mix, and Mango, an adorable guinea pig.
Emily
Meet Emily, one of our veterinary technicians. She joined Northbrook in 2022 and has been a strong asset to our team. Growing up, she always knew she wanted to work with animals. Emily went to school to become a veterinary technician and has been caring for animals ever since. She brings exceptional skill and dedication to keeping all her patients happy and healthy.
Outside of work, Emily loves attending live sporting events and winning concert tickets through the radio. Her favorites include the MN Wild and seeing Niall Horan for free! She also loves to shop and is always on the hunt for a good deal.
At home, Emily shares her space with her two senior schipperke mixes, Rizzo and Kenickie (and yes, they were named after Grease).
Grant
Meet Grant, one of our certified veterinary technicians, who is our newest addition to the Northbrook team. Grant graduated from DCTC in 2023. Starting out working in emergency medicine, Grant’s passion for solving tricky cases and expanding his knowledge makes him the perfect asset to our practice.
Outside of work, Grant loves to travel. He has gone all over the country, and his dream destination is Japan. For a treat, you’ll often find him reaching for a Diet Coke or ordering Chinese takeout.
At home, Grant lives with his mischievous orange cat, Butters. Butters is always up to something, but he’s also the perfect little boy who knows how to snuggle.
Kelli
Meet Kelli, one of our certified veterinary technicians. Kelli has been a part of the Northbrook team for almost two years now. Kelli thrives in the fast-paced world of veterinary medicine. Her favorite part of her job includes surgery, blood draws, and meeting every kitty that comes through our doors.
When she’s not at work, you can find Kelli unwinding with a classic movie like The Wrong Missy. She’s also a fan of Cross Lake, her go-to getaway spot during the spring and summer months.
At home, Kelli lives with her husband Jason and their three wonderful children: Lydia, Emmett, and Layla. Her furry friends include two tuxedo cats, Harlow and Olive, a trio of rats, and two guinea pigs. Talk about a full house!

When she’s not at work, you’ll find Roxy taking care of her ever-growing plant collection that has amassed over 60 houseplants. She also loves crafting, whether it’s painting, coloring, crocheting or making clay magnets.
