Feeling nervous about your pet’s upcoming operation?
At Northbrook Animal Hospital, surgery is something we take very seriously. Even if it’s a spay or neuter procedure, the safety and comfort of our patients is always our highest priority. It’s also important that we make you feel good about entrusting us with your best friend’s surgical needs. That’s why we go above and beyond to make the entire experience as positive and uncomplicated as possible.
Our doctors are highly skilled, as is our dedicated support staff, and our surgical protocols are second to none. We always begin by conducting thorough pre-surgical testing to determine whether your pet is healthy enough to proceed. This can help us to identify areas of concern that we must be aware of in order to reduce the chance of complications during surgery. We’ll also develop a pain management strategy designed specifically to keep your pet as comfortable as possible throughout the entire process.
During surgery, we will take every precaution to reduce risk. This includes using up to date surgical techniques and closely monitoring your pet’s vital signs and pain levels throughout the procedure. While the doctor works, our highly trained support staff will remain present to assist with surgery and to ensure your pet’s well-being at all times. You can rest easy knowing that your loved one will be well cared for.
The surgeries regularly performed at Northbrook Animal Hospital include:
- General Surgery
- Soft Tissue Procedures
- Oral Surgery
Post-surgery, your pet will spend time relaxing in our recovery area. There, we will continue to keep a watchful eye as the anesthesia begins to wear off. Calm, gentle contact and soothing voices will make waking up a peaceful experience for your pet. Meanwhile, a member of our staff will call you to explain how the procedure went and schedule your pet’s pick-up time. If necessary, we will include pain medication along with our post-operative care instructions.
Pet surgery doesn’t have to be a source of anxiety. Let us set your mind at ease and handle all of your pet’s surgical care needs.
